I’m always impressed by the tremendous efforts made by city dwellers to decorate and manicure what little bit of “green” space they have. Where I’m from, people have yards—often completely neglected. But here in Chicago, people will take a 4×6 foot plot of soil and cultivate an assortment of beautiful things.
This sharp contrast to asphalt and cement is especially obvious right out our front window here on Granville Avenue. As a matter of fact, I think there might be more tulips along the curb right now than parked cars. Nature wins. Today, at least.
