Good genes.

My mom sent me an email detailing a brief conversation she had with my high school biology teacher yesterday. He was one of my early heroes—a cantankerous old guy that happened to be smart as hell. Unapologetic. Interesting. Always frank.

Nearly 20 years later, here’s what he had to say about me, in her words:

He asked if you had any kids and I said no but you were married and you had a dog. This is what he said, “That’s too bad he doesn’t have children. Good genes are going by the wayside nowadays and Curtis had good genes.”

Happy Friday. Enjoy yourself. Take care of your genes—good or bad.
